Davido And Manager Asa Asika Part Ways!!!

What can be described as the perfect combination of music artiste and manager has finally been broken apart – pop star David ‘Davido’ Adeleke and his popular manager Asa Asika have parted ways.
Both severed ties on December 28 – a day after Davido performed at D’banj’s Koko Concert.
The former partners are yet to release any official statement but we hear ‘a lot of water have passed under the bridge’ and reconciliation might not happen.
Sources in Davido’s camp said that dropping Asa was ‘an executive decision’; saying many stakeholders believe someone ‘MORE MATURED’ should handle Davido who’s a top five artist and one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing pop stars.
Asa who turned 22 in August 2012, met up with Davido who just turned 20, in 2010.
Since his 2010 debut, Davido’s career has recorded amazing success. But he has also been plagued with controversy. ‘HKN feel he should have stronger management’, a representative from the label said.

But other sources claiming to know ‘the true story behind the break up’ say it’s more than what HKN is letting out. Multiple sources say financial disagreements have come up more than once and that could be one of the major reasons Asa was shown the way out.

A few hours ago, a blogger Adesoji Adesumo wrote about the breakup, giving entirely different reasons. He alleges that Davido and Asa finally parted ways after the latter couldn’t come up with a N2m balance from a show. Adejumo says Davido assaulted Asa leaving him with bruises and cuts. This could not be immediately confirmed from both Davido’s team and Asa whose phone is currently switched off.
Asa Asika played a key role in building Davido’s career, and before Davido released his first single, he was already positioned in the entertainment industry. Thanks to tutelage from big uncle Obi Asika and cousin Naeto C, Asa was equipped to work with an unknown Davido who returned from the US back in 2010, until they recorded remarkable success.

We learn that Davido and his label HKN are now looking for a new manager and the likely candidate to fill that position might be Shank’s manager ‘Yemi Energy’. but no decisions have been made though. Asa Asika could not be reached as his mobile phone was switched off and he was yet to reply our E-mails as at the time of this report.

Omotola does questions and answers with twitter fans

Nollywood star Omotola Jalade Ekeinde yesterday had a Q&A session with her twitter fans at 4pm. Call it end of the year gift, Omotola answered some personal questions, and her answers seemed as truthful as they could get.

Omotola’s reality show, ‘Omotola The Real Me’ has enjoyed massive views with several fans asking for additional stations to air the show. The twitter Q&A confirmed to Omotola how much her fans adore her and how eager they are to know ‘stuffs’ about her.

In a session that lasted hours, Omotola was asked questions many celebrities would normally shy away from answering, and she answered almost all, the ones she didn’t answer, she said would come up in her memoir.
Fans asked about her relationship with Genevieve that many fans believe it’s sever. While Omotola didn’t say they are good friends, she also didn’t say they are not. “Thanks, we cool” was the answer she gave, and to every other fan who asked she just said they were cool. Diplomatic uh?

And whoa! Omotola isn’t threatened about anyone’s backside in Nollywood, even Mercy Johnson, the example given by the fan who asked the question. Omotola says she’s proud of her body, her eyes being her most prized possession, though some people she said thinks it’s her b*m.
Her take on plastic surgery was news recently and there were reports she was considering having one. Omotola says the only thing she said about it was, “nothing wrong with it if you need it.” That doesn’t me she wants it, right? Why would she even when she’s faultlessly beautiful like some fans say?
According to Omotola, she met her husband in the church in 1994 when the captain came to pick his sister. Well, their love grew so strong and she married at ‘an early age’ of 18. She says early marriage is the best; she has all the time to achieve everything she wants to achieve now as all her kids are already in the secondary school. To her, pilots should be the best husbands because “they’ve seen it
all.”

Captain Ekeinde lost his job earlier in October when Air Nigeria folded up. It was in the news briefly and fans wanted to know the truth. Omotola confirmed that her husband lost his job because the company folded, but he got another immediately.
So many Nollywood actresses have gone into music and most have not been really welcomed as fans believe their songs aren’t good enough, they should have stuck to acting. Some fans think Omotola didn’t do well in her debut album too, but others think she did a great job with songs like ‘Gba’, ‘Honeyboy’.

Omotola said she went into music because she’s passionate about it – and obviously not about the money for someone who disclosed she charges N5m or even more per movie.
The Redhot Records boss wants to release a sophomore album in 2013, but she’s scared. Well, she should be after the criticisms that rocked Tonto Dike’s debut singles.
A house in Dubai? Omotola didn’t deny, she simply said “yes”, she has a house in Dubai.

The Estate Management graduate of Yaba College of Technology says Sound Sultan is her best friend in the industry, and true they’ve been friends for long; according to her, he introduced Learning Field Schools where her kids had their primary school education to her.
Of course you didn’t know this; Omotola used to listen to Fuji music and her favourite then was Pasuma. She likes Etighi best, she says…I’d like to watch her dance Etighi someday, it should be fun to watch, if you know what I mean. She also disclosed the bad habit she has; biting her nails.
So many questions from so many fans, that Omotola couldn’t answer them all. She promised another session as she tweeted from her bed (a fan asked where she was).
Omotola has this advice to youths; “Make hay while the sun shines and ignore Noise!”

Cyprus end of year parties!!!

No town knows how to party like the Nigerians in Cyprus. Whose gonna take the Nigerian Crowd? Whose gonna wear the crown as the biggest end of year party?

KUZEY KIBRIS ABEG CHOP KNUCKLES!!!

Search For Killers Of 4 Uniport Students, Lets Join The Train To Get Justice

Even as men of the Rivers State police command begin a manhunt of the mob that beat four male students: Ugonna, Lloyd, Tekana and Chidiaka of the University of Port Harcourt (Uniport) on Friday morning and later set them ablaze, after putting car tyres on their necks, for allegedly stealing mobile phones and laptops, I want to enjoin everyone of you, lovers of Justice and Nigerian Youths with a conscience to join the fight to bring the perpetrators of this dastardly and barbaric act to justice.

It is enough offense that the students allegedly committed a crime against the laws of the land but it is an even heinous crime that without the benefit of a proper investigation by the law enforcement agents and possible trial in a court of competent jurisdiction, certain Nigerians usurped the place of the law by assuming the role of jury, judge and executioner.

Where is our CONSCIENCE? Is torture followed by gruesome death in the hands of a few mob now the punishment for sundry crimes or even grievious ones? The same politicians that r*pe us blindly by cornering our commowealth for themselves, cronies, allies and generations unborn still roam our streets free, receive national awards, get bestowed with chieftaincy titles, awarded honorary degrees and still flaunt their ill-gotten wealth in our face, what have we done with them? Have we ever raised our fingers against them? We hail them when they drive by, carry placards in their support when they are ever presented for trial in the courts and even fight off security agents who attempt to arrest them for what? A few crumbs of bread and wine that will not make our lives any better?
Why must dog eat dog in our case? Why should even more guilty people who enjoy the temporary privilege of not yet been found out be the first to cast the stone in matters of this nature? This MADNESS of taking laws into our hands at the slightest opportunity must stop! We’re not animals and neither do we live in the stone age of barbarism and savageness.
According to Linda Ikeji, two of the alleged robbers were even cousins. Ugonna and IIyod. Both of them were upcoming rappers. Big L was the winner of a popular Rap Contest show on SilverbirdTV PH called ‘Turb Show’.

Therefore, I’m appealing to you all, lets raise our voice and join our hands together as we demand#justiceforaluu4.  We the youths of this country should demand that the River State Government look into this matter and arrest everyone in that video whose face is recognizable. No one individual or group possesses the right to take the life of another under any circumstance. A scapegoat must be made of this unfortunate incident so as to serve a future deterrent. It is the ‘Aluu4′ today, it could be me tomorrow, it could be you, it could be someone close to us. Where do you stand?
Lets show the rest of the world that we are not a bunch of savages nor are we a lawless people. Let’s join the campaign to get #justiceforaluu4! Enough is Enough!

We all remember Cynthia Osokogu? Buried at last!!

After several weeks of delay by the police in order to aid their investigation into her murder, Cynthia Osokogu had been buried in her home town, Boji Boji Owa, Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State on Friday. Everyone present at the burial wept bitterly as the deceased’s body was given to mother earth.

The burial which should have taken place on Sept. 7 was postponed on the advice of the police, who had not concluded autopsy on the corpse at the time. Meanwhile, a Yaba Magistrate’s Court on Friday nullified the bail earlier granted to two suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Cynthia.
Five of the seven suspects, Okwumo Nwabufo, Olisaeloka Ezike, two pharmacists; Orji Osita and Chukwunonso Maduakor, and Gideon Okechukwu, had been charged with murder, r*pe, robbery and administering an obnoxious substance to the deceased had been remanded in Ikoyi Prison without the option of bail pending the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The two other suspects, Nonso Ezike, Olisaeloka’s and Chinonso Ezeaka had been charged with receiving and selling Cynthia’s BlackBerry phone, but they were granted bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum by another magistrate, Mr. P.A. Adekomaya, on Sept. 26, 2012.
The police, however, withdrew the earlier charges filed against all the accused persons and filed three fresh ones, bringing the total number of charges to 11 from eight, thereby nullifying the bail earlier granted two of the suspects.
Counsel to one of the suspects earlier granted bail, Mr. J.C. Ngobili, described the act as unjust and told the court that all of the new charges brought up by the police are simply repetition of the old ones, expect the ninth charge; fraudulently inviting Cynthia to Lagos.
“Counts number 10 and 11 are the same as that in the old charge sheet, no missing words, and the same sentence,” he said.
Cynthia Osokogu was murdered in Festac Area, Lagos by two Facebook friends on July 22.

10 Fashion Commandments Everyone Should Live By

You should have noticed how big a business looking good is today. Suffice to say people judge you based on how you look nowadays, and what you wear is a function of how you look.

Here are ten fashion commandments that will help you a great deal to look good with little effort as Eureka Reporters take you through a journey of fabulousness in fashion.

1. Disregard trends.
You shouldn’t wear something just because it’s of the fashion moment. You have to be yourself, find what looks good on you, and embrace it, even if it’s not in vogue. The biggest fashion faux pas is trying to look like somebody else.

2. Never underestimate the power of details.
The last thing on is the first thing noticed. Take necklaces as example. Food stains don’t count though.

3. Keep it simple
For the average guy, it’s about building a personal wardrobe that looks great on you. Don’t make it complicated. When you have a choice between two items, choose the simpler one.

4. A garment should never be made of more than 25 percent of an unnatural fiber.
A little bit of polyester isn’t going to kill you. A lot of polyester? That’s a different story.

5. Experiment with style.
If you make mistakes, life goes on.

6. Never go shopping alone.
You’ve got the store trying to sell you items and you are not sure you look right. But if you have a friend along, you can always get an objective opinion from someone who knows you.

7. Don’t overdo it.
You want to be noticed for a look that’s yours, and not because you look clownish. Overdoing is like crying, “Oh, look at me!!” I think it’s far better to be noticed for subtlety than for garishness.

8. Never wear anything sheer.
Let’s leave the exposed nipples to Janet Jackson, shall we? But even the last time I checked, Janet was all covered up. Thanks anyway Janet, for the mammaries we used to see.

9. Spend with reason.
I encourage many trips to the mall or to your favorite fashion retailer. However, when shopping becomes an addiction, and you have to move every two weeks to flee creditors, you officially have a big problem.

10. Cashmere is seasonless.
Wear it in winter. Wear it in summer. Wear it to bed and to garden in for all I care, but cashmere is never, ever the wrong answer.
Write the commandments on your heart and ensure you don’t forget them. You can dress simple and look fabulous, you just have to learn how.

What we need to do about the Covenant University expulsion (Rotimi Fawole)

On the final weekend of the year 2012, we awoke to the news that Covenant University had expelled roughly 200 students for the gross malfeasance of missing the final church service of the semester (or “term”, some would say). One by one, people trooped into the village square that is Twitter to air their views. The more popular trend of thought was that if indeed there was a violation of school rules (again with the secondary school terminology), the punishment was egregiously excessive. This was more so because the news report suggested that the students were only expelled because the Chancellor of the school was especially angry at the poor attendance at church and the expulsions were summarily handed out.

At the other end of the opinion spectrum were people who believed, given that the expulsion letters reportedly cited violation of a section of the university’s student handbook, that people generally know what they’re signing up for when they enrol at Covenant University and students who knowingly break rules ought to face the punishment.

In the middle, a position taken by many of my learned friends (a cautious lawyer, what a cliché), were people who decided to reserve categorical comments until they had seen the wording of the rules allegedly broken and the punishment prescribed.
Eventually, some wording emerged but not from Covenant University. Some, of the excessive impunity camp, believed they had found support for their position on the website of the National Universities Commission (NUC). According to the excerpt, “(1) A proposed institution shall have an adequate environmental base and shall be open to all Nigerians irrespective of ethnic derivation, social status, religious or political affiliation. (2) Accordingly, its laws and status shall not conflict with the conventional responsibilities in academia or interfere with avowed traditional institutional autonomy.”Much was made of the first of these two requirements but, for me, it does not go much further than the issue of a candidate’s admissibility into the institution.
Shortly after that, a screen shot of a very pertinent section of the student handbook, the contents of which students reportedly sign to adhere to, began to circulate, the text of which is reproduced in full below.

[Unclear but presumably a list of school assemblies]
These assemblies are mandatory for all students.
No student is allowed to remain in the rooms whenever there is a university General Assembly
Any student caught in the hall of residence during any General Assembly shall be issued a letter of warning and may be expelled if the act becomes habitual.

Any student caught in the hall of residence during any General Assembly, particularly Chapel Services, Sunday Services and variety Night shall be suspended for four (4) weeks at the first instance and may suspended for One (1) academic session or expelled from the University if the act becomes habitual by being caught twice for this same offence.

This last text puts paid to any controversy. Every organisation, even a religious one, must be governed by rules. These rules cannot be subject to the effervescence of the governing authority’s temper, no matter how divinely we may choose to believe it is being inspired. That is the recipe for chaos and anarchy. What is more, the typical university, private or not, has a proper governance structure. The Vice-Chancellor is the head of administration, with the professors and other senior academics forming the senate. The senate is usually the supreme disciplinary body on campus. It is extraordinarily strange for a student (let alone 200) to be summarily expelled (ie without a disciplinary hearing) merely because the Chancellor (the ceremonial head of the university) commands it. A university that charges top naira for tuition cannot be run like a fiefdom.

However, the reality is that 200 students have been expelled. Two hundred young adults have had their dreams, ambitions and lives truncated without due process being followed. In fact, expulsion isn’t available to the University, even for “habitual” offenders. It is also unclear if the University bothered to sift habitual offenders from first timers. What can these students do about their situation? The idea of a law suit has been bandied and the students would be well within their rights to pursue legal redress. However, they need to be mindful of the fact that law suits in Nigeria take time to reach a conclusion. If Covenant University chooses to appeal a most likely unfavourable judgment (and this isn’t too far-fetched if the Chancellor is as given to whims as the reported command to expel 200 students suggests), they could very well be in court until 2018. Litigation should be the last resort, when all else has failed.

The first step would be to write to the University’s Council, requesting a reversal of the expulsions, highlighting the fact that the punishment meted out was far in excess of what the University rules stipulate. This is not only inappropriate, it is also unconstitutional (s. 36 (6) (8), 1999 Constitution). A copy of the letter should be sent to the head of the NUC, also requesting its immediate intervention. The parents of these students also need to pool their resources together to wage a public relations campaign to get Covenant University to reverse these expulsions. Publish the expulsion letters side-by-side with the relevant sections of the student handbook. Nigerians are typically fearful of ‘victimisation’ but you/your child currently stands expelled – what’s the worst the could happen?
Everyone else who is concerned must also apply as much pressure as they can. Focused, articulate, logical pressure, showing that while we appreciate the need for discipline and conformity to laid down rules, we are also trying to build a society in which constituted authority respects the confines of its power within the same legal framework.

Can Christmas get any better or worse?

All over the world 25th December is supposed to be a jolly day because our king was born, in Nigeria it was a public holiday, UK and US also, people made merry in these countries as well as other parts of the world Except Cyprus where roads and trees are lite up for Christmas but no public holiday.

On Christmas day Club W had a Christmas party with strippers at least so Cyprus people can ease the stress of Classes, quizzes and work, but trust Cyprus people who just know how to spoil a great show, It was bloody due to the fight caused by Nigerians, news reached me that one guy whose name is undisclosed(lefkosia) sent a magusa boy whose name was also undisclosed to break a fellow brothers head with a bottle of Remi Martins (unopened) due to some mishaps they had before the day of the party. Make una take am easy ohh biko 9ja boys in Cyprus before person go dey 6ft God loves you all.

Meanwhile the club happened and lots of Nigerians had fun, trust the manager of club W always knows how to attract Nigerian dudes he brought exotic dancers to shake that ass and boobs, aside the fight it was still a great outing for those who attended. *wink* 9ja... we dont dull.!!!

Was the koko concert a flop? (Phillip Eta narrates)

So, the Koko Concert went down last night.
“The worst day of my life! Dec 27th,Koko concert. Despite d negativity, I managed to hold my head up nd stay positive! Home now..#NeverAgain,” Channel O presenter, Denrele Edun tweeted in the wee hours of Friday.
Even by his very lofty eccentric standards, the wild-haired one, could not deal with this audition for the steel-hearted, with experience in covering long distances by foot.
Like @utomisphere tweeted, this one was the survival of the fittest. His tweet read: “Koko Concert was actually a scouting session for Nigeria’s next Olympians.”
So, holla, if you passed it. Tweet it, trumpet it, tell it loud and clear. Like @Sirkastiq added, “No really, those of you who are the koko concert survivors need to add it to your bios. Such feat deserves respect.”
But beyond all the Koko Walk of Life, dusty shoes, disappearing make-up, noisesome pestilence and lustful cravings to see Idris Elba, this is one battle D’Banj has lost, as he tries to outdo former business partner, Don Jazzy.
Don Jazzy opens PoP, D’Banj also announces the opening of his night club in Victoria Island. Please note, by this time, both are already CEOs of labels, that are trying to get off the ground.
Not satisfied with all that glory, D’Banj goes ahead and organises the Koko Concert, which previously featured all the members of the defunct MoHits Crew. This time around, the Kokomaster went for international flavour – Hollywood actor Idris Elba, Pusha T and Big Sean, were here in all their might.
One sensitive area he conveniently ignored, was logistics. Even with all the ravings and rantings, it was a good show from all accounts. But imagine it was staged at the Expo Hall and not the Eko Atlantic (or is it Bar Beach now)?
A lot of Nigerians are not happy right now with D’Banj.
All attention is now on Don Jazzy. Will he or will not swallow the bait and stage his own concert?
For now, the scoreboard reads: “Don Jazzy 1 – D’Banj 0″
