My Father Stríps Me Nák-ed At Night and Rapes Me; Teenage Girl Opens Up In Lagos

Emotion ran high recently at the Bar Beach Police Division in Lagos following revelation by a teenage girl of how her 57-year-old father, Mr Nwafor Ikoro, had been forcefully having intercoursé with her in the last three months, while giving her N200 as pocket money to school.
Unsure of who to confide in, she said she told her mother during one of her visits only for the father to dismiss the claim, stating that he could not bring himself that low as to having cárnal knowledge of his own biological daughter. But the bubble later burst…
The girl [names withheld] summoned courage and told her head teacher what daddy used to do to her every night. It was the head teacher who contacted the police, leading to Mr Nwafor Ikoro’s arrest.
The teenage girl, who was made to start her education from primary five when her mother brought her back to her father after some years of separation, disclosed more during interrogation.
She said: “When I was reunited with my father, I was happy because I was living with an aunt in the village since my parents separated. He usually told me that I would take the place of my mother in his life since my mother had divorced him. I did not know what he meant until he started having cárnal knowledge of me at night.
“At a point, I got tired and insulted him. Then, he started béating me and changed his loving nature. He would béat me and stríp me náked and have his way whenever he wanted.
“When I attempted to scream, he would hit me harder and cover my mouth. He later apologized, telling me he would buy me a car. All I want at the moment is for my father to be punished for what he did to me.”
In his defense, her dad, Mr Nwafor Ikoro, described his daughter’s claim as mere allegation. He said he only béat her after he discovered she was in an ámorous relationship with an unnamed man.
But police suspected that the father was lying and charged him to the Igbosere Magistrate Court. Mr Nwafor Ikoro has been remanded in prison custody until his application bail would be considered.

Jealous ex-girlfriend sets rival ablaze in Enugu

According to a report bySunnewsonline.com, a 20 year old girl allegedly set ablaze the 22 year old new love interest of her ex-boyfriend. Cynthia Onah reportedly went to her ex-boyfriend's house at Onugba Nike area in Enugu State late at night with a gallon of fuel and emptied its content on Chinwe Igwe, her ex's girlfriend, who was sleeping. The incident took place on August 24th.
The Commissioner of Police Enugu State, Mr. Mohammed Adamu described the incident as very unfortunate. “It is terrible that a girl because of jealousy would set another girl on fire simply because they are befriending the same boy.”
CP Adamu explained that on that fateful day, Cynthia had in connivance with another suspect, one Obiora Chukwuegbo stormed Chika’s home and set Chinwe on fire. It was only the assistance of  neighbours that Chinwe was rescued through the window as the fire consumed the room. She was said to have been taken to a private hospital before she was transferred to Annunciation Specialist Hospital  Emene, Enugu State where she is still receiving treatment.

The boyfriend, Chika told Sunday Sun
“I am a driver and I’ve been dating Chinwe for the past five years. We had little quarrel and we stopped dating. I meet Cynthia who is a prostitute and dated her for just one month. We separated one month after because at times she would be chasing me with a knife. I couldn’t bear it and so I went back to settle with my former girlfriend. Cynthia didn’t give up as she threatened that she was going to deal with us. She even threatened to pour acid on me.
Being a driver, I travelled the day Cynthia burnt my girlfriend. It was one of my neighbours that called me to say that my house was on fire and that somebody poured fuel under the door and it exploded and burnt my girlfriend who was sleeping in the room; that they have rescued her through the window.
“When I got home, I saw that all my property had been burnt to ashes. My girlfriend was hospitalized because she sustained injuries from the fire. But I am determined and I have promised God that with the condition of my  girlfriend that I am still going to marry her.”
The suspect, Cynthia, who hails from Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of  Enugu State, said
“I started dating Chika when he had misunderstanding with his former girlfriend, Chinwe. We dated for one month and then he told me that he was no longer interested in marrying me. Chika is owing me N12,000. When we had a quarrel, I did not threaten him with a knife. I only used the knife to deflate his tyres.
“I have quarreled with Chinwe several times. I sent her a text message to leave my boyfriend. Because she threatened  me, I also threatened her that she will never enjoy the relationship. I don’t  know anything about who took fuel to the house of her boyfriend and burnt  the house. On that fateful day, Chika called my phone at night and said that I should meet him at Emene junction. I was out waiting for him when the policemen from the State CID arrested me. I didn’t know anything about the incident. I only know we have traded words.”
When  Sunday Sun visited the victim at the Annunciation Specialist Hospital Emene Area, Enugu State, she said:
“I am still shocked at what happened. I regret dating Chika as I have been turned to something else now. I saw  Cynthia Onah and  Chukwuegbo Obiora after they had poured  fuel under the door and fire was everywhere. I was calling him for help. It was when I was calling  for help through the other window that  I saw Cynthia Onah and Obiora Chkwuegbo running away and I was shouting for help until the neighbours broke one of the windows and carried me out from the window”,  she said.
“My relationship with Chika is over. I am in pains and agony. I didn’t know what to do. I was sleeping and suddenly I saw smoke and it exploded and caught fire. I could have been burnt to ashes if not for the neighbours who broke through the window and rescued me,” she added.
CP Adamu said the suspects would soon be charged to court.

ASUU Strike: Jonathan calls for review of labour law

Abuja – President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday advocated a review of labour laws to curtail the excesses of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other labour unions.

The President, who made the call during a Presidential media chat in Abuja, urged the striking members of ASUU to return to work in the interest of their students and the education sector.

The President also said it was inconceivable that lecturers in state-owned universities would go on strike over issues concerning the allowances of lecturers in federal universities.

He said such a situation would not occur if well-guided and well-thought out laws were in place regulating labour union activities.

Jonathan also said that the N79 billion Earned Allowance arrears, which was the major reason for the ASUU strike, was not supposed to be paid from the federation account.

According to the President, earned allowances ought to be paid from the Internally Generated Revenue of the universities, if a good labour law is in place.

Jonathan called on the striking ASUU to reconsider its stand by accepting government offer, and call its members back to the classrooms.

The President reiterated the commitment of his administration to adequately fund the universities and provide the necessary infrastructure to aid the education sector

Jonathan said that the PDP-led administration had done quite well, despite all the odds and challenges

According to him, Nigeria is better off in the past years of the PDP-led government with improved standard of living, building of more federal universities, improved telecommunication, railways and roads.

The President assured that with the commitment of his administration to the privatisation of the power sector, electricity supply would become stable by the end of the first quarter of 2014. (NAN)

ASUP resumes strike on Friday

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics is to resume its suspended strike on Friday  following  the inability of the Federal Government to resolve outstanding issues with the union.

ASUP Chairman, Mr. Clement Chirman, told newsmen in Jos on Sunday that “the frustrating inertia of the Federal Government to convincingly fulfil any of the promises and agreements reached with the union before the suspension of the earlier strike on July 172013 shows that government is not serious.”

Continue after the break.
Chirman said the National Executive Council after its 75th meeting held at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State, resolved that the strike would “be total and indefinite” until  the government showed  committed to honouring the agreement with the union.
He expressed dismay at  government penchant  for breaking agreements, adding that “since the union suspended its earlier strike in July, government has shown no commitment to fulfilling any of the promises it made to the union.”

The union in its communiqué after the meeting in Bida decried “the anti-labour stance of the National Assembly as exemplified by the recently proposed removal of minimum wage from the exclusive legislative list of the constitution to the concurrent list, as well as the proposed legislation against declaration of industrial strike by unions in the tertiary sector.”
ASUP also lamented government’s abuse of the laws establishing TETfund. And the culpable lack of commitment of the National Board for Technical Education to meeting the needs and demands of polytechnic education in Nigeria.

“The CONTISS 15 Migration for Lower cadres, Needs Assessment of Polytechnics, release of whitepaper of visitation to Federal polytechnics, discrimination between polytechnics and university graduates in job placement and career progression and the constitution of Governing Councils to Federal polytechnics earlier omitted, were among the issues we brought before the Federal Government in the last negotiation, but government has failed to address any of them since after we suspended strike in July”, Chirman lamented.
The communique said:
1. That Government should without delay address all the outstanding standing issues including the NEEDS Assessments of the polytechnics and the corresponding funding, constitution of the Governing Councils of the remaining Federal polytechnics, CONITSS 15 Migration of the Lower Cadres, the removal of disparity between HND and Degree certificates, establishment of the National Polytechnics Commission (NPC), release of the Whitepaper of the visitation panels to polytechnics;
2. That the National Assembly should rescind from its current anti-labour posture in the interest of industrial peace and our desperate move to rescue the endangered soul of the tertiary institutions in the country;
3. That the National Assembly should expedite action on the review of the Polytechnic Act;
4. That a vote of no confidence be passed the NBTE and further calls for the immediate establishment of a National Polytechnics Commission (NPC) to proactively cater for the needs of the sector;
5. That the Nigerian political class and other interest groups should exercise restraint on their utterances and activities in the interest of peace, unity and security of the nation;
6. That the Federal Government should desist from abuse of TETfund laws;
7. That stakeholders in the education sector such as parents, students, religious leaders, the press, members of States and National assemblies to rise to their responsibilities of rescuing the (polytechnic) education sector from imminent collapse;
8. That the position of ASUP on the need to appoint the rectors from within the polytechnic system remains irreversible;

9. That in view of the continued insincerity of Government to honour the agreement reached with ASUP, NEC resolves that the union will resume the suspended strike with effect from 4th October, 2013. NEC sincerely appreciates the good people of Nigeria and all other stakeholders in the education sector for their sustained support in its struggles to save the polytechnic education from total collapse in Nigeria.

TOTAL SHUTDOWN: NASU Will join ASUU strike next week

AS strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the nation’s tertiary
institutions enters its fourth month, the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) has indicated its resolve to embark on its own indefinite strike next week.

Speaking at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the trade union in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Tuesday, NASU’s general secretary, Prince Peters Adeyemi, said members of
the union had not been paid for two months, despite working to keep university system running during the ongoing ASUU strike.

“NASU will commence its own strike next week, Because we have been working and government has refused to pay our salary. For us, it does not make sense to continue to keep the system running when we are not being paid. The reason for this is not known to us.

Government has not paid our salary for August and today is September 24; they are owing us two months’ salary and there is no way we can continue to do this work on empty stomach, while
they run round the globe on full stomach,” he said.

The NASU’s general secretary, who said no reason was adduced for their non-payment, added that “ the unfortunate thing is that they have no explanation for non-payment of our salary. That is
enough patience on our part, despite the fact that we have our grouse before with the Federal Government that things are not running well.

“However, we think as Nigerians and parents, we don’t have to unnecessarily ground the system, but if you take this our maturity and level-headedness to mean stupidity, then, people who
complain that we, in the university system have ruined the future of students by going on too many strikes imposed on us by government will have no reason not to understand, if we go on our own strike next week.”

Also speaking, the national president of NASU, Mr Ladi Iliya, blamed the National Assembly for fighting on their political interest and future at the expense of welfare of Nigerians.

The NASU president, who said the National Assembly should have deliberated on issue of persistent insecurity and ASUU strike when it
resumed session, described the attitude of the legislators as shameful.

The labour leader decried issue of corruption, which he said was now an acceptable part of every transaction in the country, both in public and
private sectors of the economy, adding that high cost of running the country today was a result of the endemic scourge of corrupt practices, which,
he said had long bedevilled the system.

Obasanjo's sister owns Apo building where squatters were killed

The unfinished building where security forces killed at least seven squatters on Friday September 20, in the Apo neighbourhood of Abuja, belongs to Mrs. Adunni Oluwole Salisu, believed to be the sister to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Pemium Times reports exclusively.
Documents from the Abuja Geographical Information Systems (AGIS) shows that the property, located at No. 8 Bamanga Tukur Street, Gudu District, near the Gudu cemetery, belongs to Mrs. Salisu.
Mrs Adunni Oluwole Salusi was said to have engaged the services of SSS operatives led by Marilyn Ogah and combined team of soldiers to get the squatters out of her building. Unfortunately 7 people were killed in the operation though the SSS said they stormed the uncompleted building because they got intelligence report that Boko Haram members were hiding in the building and were planning to strike Abuja.

Rihanna vs Teyana Taylor

Singer and actress Teyanna Taylor goes straight at Rihanna after Bad Gal RiRi tries to throw shade..
So what happened was, earlier today Rihanna posted video on her instagram page of a guy in her entourage wearing a long weave and a snap back cap warbling his way through Anita Baker's 'Sweet Love.' This made Teyana Taylor think Rihanna and her entourage were mocking her because she posted an Instagram of herself singing the same song two weeks ago.

After seeing the instagram pic Teyana came after Rihanna on Twitter and Rihanna clapped back. Lol. But Teyana won this round. She told Rihanna and I quote "Ya net worth and ya body count go neck to neck. #IndustryPussy". Ouch! See their Tweets after the cut...
