Foremost nationalist, Mudi Spikin is dead


KANO  One of the few surviving independence nationalists, Alhaji Mudi Spikin is dead. He died last night in his private residence at Fagge, Kano State.
Spikin, a poet and founding father of the  Northern Elements Progressive Union (NEPU) was incarcerated several times in his lifetime for his political activism.
The late literary icon has been buried at a public cemetery according to Islamic rites. He is survived by wives, children and grand children.
