Goldie Harvey buried in private ceremony

The remains of late Susan ‘Goldie’ Harvey was today laid to rest at the Vaults & Gardens private burial ground located at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Close, Off Federal Secretariat Road, Ikoyi, Lagos Island, Lagos, Nigeria.

The burial commenced at 10am with only close family members and business associates in attendance.

Goldie’s remains led the procession in a R350 Mercedes Benz by MIC caskets and Rangers followed by her family and friends including husband Andrew Harvey and best friend Denrele Edun.

Those in attendance at the burial included celebrities like Jaywon, Eedris Abdulkareem, DJ Jimmy JATT, KSB, Essence, Weird MC, ID Ogungbe, Keke Ogungbe, Seun Oloketuyi, Gbenga Adeyinka 1st, Dele Momodu, eLDee the don, Sexy Steel, Freeze, Olisa Adibua, Tiwa Savage and others.

Lovely and talented Oluwabimpe Goldie Susan, if I’m to start saying all I can’t finish’, though it’s painful, so lovely to have left on Valentine’s Day, May almighty God grant your soul eternal rest for ever and ever in Jesus Name Amen.”

Denrele, who reportedly held Goldie as she breathed her last said in his tribute 

“I would move mountains, I would break ceilings to sell your legacy, you are the best friend I forever had. I can hear you say to me, do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. Do not stand on my grave and cry. I am not there, I did not die.”

Goldie was pronounced dead on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, February 14, 2013 after she was rushed to Reddington Hospital, V.I,  Lagos, hours after she returned from Los Angeles where she attended the Grammys.

2 Face’s fiance and long time heartthrob, Annie Macaulay, has reacted to the wicked rumour that her man was involved in a Jet Ski crash while on a vacation early Monday morning in the Turks and Calcos Island.

Annie, inundated with calls and apparently worried, wrote on her BB’ status: “My fiance is WELL , STRONG n HAPPY…pls stop d rumours.” She hinted that he has since traveled to the United States to begin recording of his new album and is due to come back soon. 9-Year-Old Girl Gives Birth To Baby Boy

A girl became pregnant in Mexico at the age of just eight. 

The girl, now nine and named only as Dafne, has just given birth to a baby boy in Jalisco state, Mexico. The father of the baby is a boy of 17 - who the girl's mother says is missing after running away. Jorge Villasenor, with the state prosecutors' office, said: "We are looking for the young man to get his story because she does not understand what has happened.

"This is a rape or child sex abuse case." The baby girl was born on January 27 in Zoquipan Hospital, weighing 5.7lbs. Mother and daughter have been released and are doing well, but due to Daphne's age the hospital said it would have to do extensive follow-up sessions.

Nigerian female artist are scared : Weird MC

The name Shola Idowu may not immediately ring a bell but at the mention of Weird MC, songs like Allen Avenue and Ijoya come to mind.

The pioneer female rap artiste told Saturday Beats that female rap artistes in Nigeria have a mortal dread.

She said, “They let me know about their element of fear; maybe because of how I relate with a lot of them and because of my demeanour they find it so easy to approach me. They tell me that it is a male dominated industry and I agree with them. It is not just peculiar to Nigeria; it is so in a lot of industries in the world. It is about you striking out and believing that you have to stand out.”

Citing herself as an example, she said she had to fight her way to the top back then when the industry was dominated by men.

“I use myself as an example, Allen Avenue came out from nowhere and it became a huge success. Then I took my time and I came up with Ijoya. I was standing side by side with the male artistes and I was doing major shows. I tell them that they need to work hard.

“ This is not a business where you have to be timid, neither will things be handed to you. You have to stand up and earn your place. I tell them, it is not just about your nails and Brazilian hair, it is about content. If you do not have the content, you will never get the recognition and respect that you deserve. If you stay timid and at the back of the line, no one will ever recognise you.

“I talk to them sometimes on the phone. I have had an experience with one of them; I attended a show and she got booed and started crying. I told her that even if she had to cry, she should do it in private. I do not want to see her cry, it is awful already. You are giving me a very negative perception about your brand.”

She stated that she learnt a major lesson from the success of her song, Ijoya. She learnt that music is all about business.

The weird one said, “Ijoya opened my eyes. It showed me that you cannot relegate yourself to the background in terms of how you express yourself. If you read my biography, it says, you cannot put me in the box. If you do, you will have to break the seal again. At best, I call my music fusion. I can toy with any style from Apala tojuju, classical, anything. That is the kind of artiste I am. I tell them you have to open up to new possibilities.

“A lot of rappers are uptight. A lot of people accused me of selling out after Ijoya came out. They said I broke their heart that they were looking at me as a rap artiste, a torch for women.  I told them that it is a business. I came to the realisation that I love what I do but it is a business.

“It is what pays my bills. I have responsibilities. No mother, no father, I am the senior one at home. I have junior ones to take care of, school fees to pay. I have things to do. That is what I say to them.”

Weird MC is a also judge on a new initiative created by Ultima Studios. The competition, U-Rap, she said, is a way of making rap prominent in Nigeria.

She explained, “Why I am part of U-Rap is because I have a close relationship with the organisers. I am working on some new projects right now, but I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag yet. It is part of me diversifying the Weird MC brand. I was called and they told me about the competition which is majorly done online. I thought that since we have had a good rapport over the years, why not join them.

“As it was is, it is going back in time. I feel the U-Rap competition will impact positively on the industry. So far, it has been myself, Illbliss, Mode9, Ruggedman that have been pushing rap. Now we have the likes of MI, Naeto C, Phenom, Muna, Zee, Eva, Sasha, Olamide.

“ I think Mo’Cheddah has a better understanding of the market with what she has done so far. I am working on my new album and I put female rap artistes on it. It can only get better.”

Christ Embassy Pastor Asks For Forgiveness After Failing To Resurrect A Dead Boy

 MOURNERS at a funeral wake of a 15-year-old-boy in Gweru were left speechless when a team of pastors stormed the house and started praying over the body in a bid to resurrect him. The incident occurred in Southview suburb on Monday at the funeral wake of Tatenda Dick, an Ordinary Level pupil at Chaplin High School, who had died the previous day from a terminal illness.

Witnesses said Tatenda’s body was brought home for the wake before burial the following morning. They said three pastors from the local Christ Embassy Church came and conducted prayers meant to bring Tatenda back to life as had happened to the Biblical Lazarus.

A close relative of Tatenda said the three pastors came into the lounge where the coffin was and started sprinkling water on mourners in the room while speaking in tongues.

“One of the pastors opened the top half of the coffin and placed a cellphone that was playing a sermon by the church founder, Pastor Chris,” said the relative.

The pastors removed the body from the coffin in front of the stunned mourners. They said the “resurrection” prayers were conducted with the blessings of the boy’s mother, a member of the same church. The witness said the pastors intensified their prayers, commanding Dick to rise and walk.
After praying for about three hours without any sign that the boy would come back to life, the witness said, the leader of the team ordered all the mourners, except Christ Embassy members, out of the room.

Eventually, only the three men were left with the boy’s mother and a few close relatives. The Christ Embassy Church members claimed Dick would resurrect in a couple of hours if they were left on their own.

“Curious mourners who were failing to come to terms with the goings on, however, refused to disperse as they wanted to witness every part of the unfolding drama. The ‘men of God’ went into ‘ecstasy’ while one of them held the corpse upright. What surprised the mourners most was that even the now deceased boy’s mother, Ms Germa Machingauta, pleaded with the mourners to disperse as she also believed that her son would resurrect,” said one witness.

Some mourners said they now suspected the whole incident to have been an act of Satanism. Due to numerous bizarre incidents happening in Zimbabwe, people are quick to link any inexplicable happening to Satanism or juju (use of magic powers). The witnesses said as the drama unfolded, some curious mourners peeped through the windows of the room where the prayers were taking place.

One man who appeared to be the leader of the group is said to have blamed the delay of the boy’s “resurrection” on “demons” which he alleged were possessed by some mourners. The church crew later ordered the close relatives to also leave the room and leave the mother behind.

“They then closed all the windows and the curtains of the room before they ordered Ms Machingauta to touch on the chest of her son’s body before they continued to pray on top of their voices,” said the witness.

He said some disgruntled mourners, including the elderly, later dispersed dismissing the prayer sessions as a farce.

“The church members, including Ms Machingauta, prayed for the resurrection of the boy until Tuesday morning. By then only a few close relatives were still camped outside the house while the majority of the mourners who could not understand what was happening left the residence. The boy, however, did not resurrect and there were some clashes among the relatives themselves on Tuesday as they accused Ms Machingauta and her church members of making fun out of a funeral. The boy was later buried on 

Tuesday afternoon but by then, there were only few relatives as the majority of mourners and other distant relatives had left.”

Ms Machingauta, a nurse by profession, confirmed the incident when contacted yesterday. She said she had no problem with her church members’ attempts to raise her son from the dead.

“I have no problems with what happened. This is what we believe in our church. Actually, the Christ Embassy Church members had come on my invitation. I was satisfied with what happened. The resurrection failed because God had already spoken to my child and decided to take him into his care,” she said.

When she was asked why they decided to conduct the resurrection prayers after the boy’s body had first been taken to the mortuary, Ms Machingauta said: “That doesn’t matter. Lazarus was resurrected when his body was about to rot and this could have happened to my child but God had spoken to him,” she said

“The dress came back shredded, and you just don’t do that to people. It’s disgusting in the sense that this was a beautiful dress with intricate chains and beading.”

“There was no need to cut the dress,” the source continued, noting that in Lindsay Lohan fashion, “She supposedly had another short dress with her in the car.”

Lohan’s stylist for the AmFAR event said the situation was under control and that there were no hard feelings over the ill-fated frock … yeah right.

Goldie Harvey would be well missed, she was a strong woman who wanted to survive in the industry, God bless her as she goes 6ft below.
